An interesting 18th-century Flemish chronicle manuscript with a fine coloured section-title
Chronyck. Hier Worden Verhaelt Vele Wonderbaere Gheschiedenissen. 18th-century Flemish manuscript.

8vo (19,3 x 15,5 cm). (2), 569, (3), (8), (15) pp. Contemporary calf, gilt-decorated spine with 5 raised bands and gilt-lettered morocco label.

An interesting, very legible Flemish chronicle of the years 1725 - 1745, supplemented with descriptions of several historical events, geographical features and an extract from Pliny. Title-page and 3 section-titles nicely drawn in washed ink, of which 1 multi-coloured.

The book starts with a collection of 19 (shortened) emblems by the priest Jacobus Moons [1639 - 1721], after the printed edition of 1675. Then follows a chronicle of the town of Brussels from 974 till 1724, including different Miraculae. Every year of the Flemish chronicle of the years 1724 - 1745 is treated separately, each with its own subtitle within a drawn cartouche. Where necessary, the relevant European events of that year are treated more or less extensively, especially those concerning Rome and the clergy.

At the end two rather rare Flemish publications (1727 and 1737) have been bound in.

Excellent condition.
