Poems signed by Oscar Wilde
WILDE, Oscar POEMS (SIGNED BY THE AUTHOR) London: David Bogue, 1882 SIGNED BY OSCAR WILDE IN OXFORD ON MAY 14 1885. 8vo. ix, 234, (2) pp. Original vellum boards with gilt floral decorations to the front and the spine. Heavy offsetting to the front and back endpapers. Spine darkened and chipped at the tail. Top edge gilt. A VG copy. Wilde was almost certainly in Oxford on that day, having reviewed Henry V in the town for ?The Dramatic Review?, which published his article on May 23, wherein he states that he saw the production ?the week before? (ref. Oscholars Chronology). In addition, we have correspondence from Donald Mead, Chairman of the Oscar Wilde Society, who states ?the signature and the rest of the inscription look genuine ... I find no reference to him being anywhere else?.
